Esperance Residential College Sculpture & Landscaping

Team: Brad Ladyman and Miik Green 2011

This work was developed around the ideas of landscape, fluidity and nurturing. This proposal abstracts the notions of ‘drawing lines from the environment’ and evolves into an artwork that can be inhabited and appreciated in partnership with the landscape. The work also offers a dynamic play of light and shadow as the lines are cast over the concrete plynth, surrounding landscape and contours. The positioning of the work in the ‘front yard’ adjacent the new College entry canopy invites exploration and directly engages with the audience. The form of the work is a progression of metal sections that evolve and shift to create a formal rythm and define a space.
